HP make huge investment in Cloud technologies

HP is obtaining Eucalyptus – an open-source software specialist – to build private and enterprise clouds as they believe that open source cloud is the future.

Cloud computing is the talking point for businesses as it allows workers to access various software applications via a web based interface – which means there is a significant workload shift for employees and businesses.

Marten Mickos will be heading the project and believes that by making cloud into open source, it will provide customers with greater flexibility and control over their cloud systems.

The investment comes after an analyst firm predicted that OpenStack – an open source technology already used in HP Helion – will quadruple in size within 4 years.

You will have had experience using the cloud already if you have an email account with web based email services such as Hotmail or Gmail by connecting remotely using a web browser.

Contact EC2IT if you are considering switching to the cloud and would like more information.
